Chapter Seventeen

Marcel let her mother go in first and set the pace for their arrival. Naomi met them at the door and gave Roslin a hug.

“Are you okay?” Naomi asked.

“I’m fine now. Thank you.”

“Someone help me up!” Cricket yelled from the recliner. “Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch!”

“What the hell?” Roslin said on her way to the living room. The moment she saw Cricket she said, “Look what you’ve done to yourself!”

“Where have you been?” Cricket demanded before starting to cry.

“I was robbed,” Roslin wailed, now suddenly crying, too.

Feeling restless and irritable, Marcel glanced over at Naomi who was perched on a stool at the kitchen counter engrossed in the reunion. Marcel had seen enough. Time to go fishing again.
